Originally built in 1977, the Solar Villa renovation project featured the modernization of 100 units of affordable housing. Completed ahead of time, this 9% MFA tax credit project added an elevator and additional ADA accessibility improvements to the complex. The scope of work included extensive landscaping improvements, updated equipment, furnishing, openings, and interior finishes. The building underwent significant energy efficient improvements achieved through extensive upgrades to the exterior envelope, air sealing, thermal insulation, equipment, fixtures, and all appliances. Specific materials such as concrete, masonry, metals, wood, and plastics were all incorporated to give the housing complex the breath of fresh air that it deserves, while maintaining the original integrity of the building.
